Garden Lights

Posted by admin under Garden

One of the great things about summer is being able to sit outside, have a Barbeque accompanied by a couple of glasses of vino, and then just relax on into the evening. Many people have different ways about enjoying such a lifestyle, some like to invite their friends over and get a bit of a party going, whilst others like to sit down and enjoy the company of their family, but I bet one thing everyone has in common is that they do not want the evening to stop when it gets dark, and that is why it is great to have garden lights fitted around the outside of your home.

The benefits of having Garden lights installed is firstly, it allows you to carry out the lifestyle we have mentioned above, but as well as this, it is a cheap and effective way of creating a beautiful home and generating a comforting ambience. Simple things such as lighting can really improve the aesthetics of a house, and it doesnt have to stop in the back garden. These lights can also be installed in the front garden and provide a welcoming vibe for your guests, or for when you have arrived home from work. Another major benefit is that it is a great safety measure, especially for households with lots of little ones running about who are looking to get up to all kinds of mischief. Another advantage is that you can make the most of your garden in the autumn and winter months when most people tend to neglect their garden and let the grass grow too long. But simply get a patio heater and couple cups of tea on the go and you can still sit outside and enjoy your garden in its full glory, which would be great with Guy Fawkes Night just around the corner.

Korean Gardens

Posted by admin under Garden

Korean gardens embody a philosophy of adapting to nature in its original state. The elements of a Korean garden include land, structures, flowers and trees, streams and ponds, rocks and walls, bridges and paths. A garden brings these elements together into harmony within a defined space through an orderly and functional arrangement.

- Chung Jae-hoon, Korean Gardens: Where Man and Nature Become One

The Korean garden is more than just a scenic location. For Koreans of old, it was amicrocosm of the universe, an architectural embodiment of the Korean world view. Mans influencing touch is kept to a minimumrocks, streams, ponds, and trees are left as close to their natural state as possible; artificial additions, meanwhile, serve to highlight or complement nature, not dominate it. By tying together the natural and man-made, the garden expresses mans harmony with his natural environment, an ever-present theme in Koreantraditional culture.

Many people that have gardens feel like it’s not quite complete. The answer is simple, build a garden building. What are we talking about you may ask? Well many gardens and yards could use some type of structure to add practicality and style to the garden or yard. There are many different types of garden buildings and one may work better than the other for you specific garden.

Garden sheds are very popular as they add functionality and style to your garden. These buildings are perfect because you can store garden items like a lawn mower, shovels, rakes, spades, and anything else you use in your yard. Shed’s can look really nice and can add a lot of style to your property.

Garden Gazebo’s are also a very popular structure as they make your garden or yard much more fun. How does it do this? A gazebo is usually a covered patio in a sense that people can eat under, play games, or just sit in the shade and enjoy their garden.

Gazebo’s can be designed very stylishly and can add a lot of pop to your yard.

Decks are another great way to show off the yard. A deck is easy to clean, and easy to maintain. They are also nice because it provides a clean large area to entertain guests, eat, or even place chairs around to talk and visit.

Great Gardening

Posted by admin under Garden

If you are hoping that your green fingers ay produce you a stunning garden this spring, full of pretty blooms and colourful sights, then it’s not as much about caring for the plants, and more about making sure the soil is of the best quality.

The soil that you put your plants into needs to have a great richness of minerals and goodness for the plants to thrive, as the garden bed is a fragile ecosystem. It needs to have the right ph balance for everything to thrive, and gardeners are discouraged to dig, leaving the earth worms to take the nutrients deep down to the roots of the plants. It is also advised to steer clear of artificial fertilisers, as it makes the plants unhealthy, much like if you were to take steroids. It will initially enhance the growth, but the plants will not have the same quality.

Look at when in the gardening cycle a plant is due to bloom, and arrange the plants in your garden so they alternate, rather than having dead patches through the year where the flowers have come and gone.

Try peppering non flowering shrubbery into the mix to break up the colour, and keep the garden looking alive.

Another top tip from gardening gurus is to not overwater your soil, asd this can have as much of a negative effect as if you were to not water at all. If the soil becomes waterlogged, the roots can become clogged and unable to soak up nutrients.
